Guide to major project management certifications – Which agile certification should you choose in 2026? – Part 2
Fresh, 2026 guide for beginners and experienced project managers
In our previous post, we examined the most significant certifications in the fields of traditional project management and business analysis. Of course, agile certifications cannot be left off the list, as agile approaches and methodologies are no longer just an alternative, but have become an integral part of everyday operations for many organisations.
The agile approach offers a competitive advantage, especially in rapidly changing business environments and dynamic projects and product development processes: it supports continuous learning, rapid adaptation, team self-organisation and maximisation of customer value.
Accordingly, agile certifications – whether Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or other frameworks – play an important role in certifying professionals' theoretical knowledge and practical competence in an internationally recognised manner. Below, we present these agile certifications in more detail to help our readers choose the most suitable training and career path.

Detailed description of agile certifications
PMI-ACP® – Agile Certified Practitioner
PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) is the Project Management Institute's (PMI) agile certification, which is one of the most comprehensive and recognised agile certifications on the market. What makes it special is that it is not based on a single framework, such as Scrum, but integrates several methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP (Extreme Programming), SAFe, and other agile approaches are also part of the exam. For this reason, PMI-ACP is widely used by organisations seeking true agile transformation and looking for professionals who can operate confidently in a variety of agile situations.
The certification focuses on real-life situations, practical applicability and team dynamics. The exam places great emphasis on agile values, teamwork, continuous learning, change management, reliable delivery rhythms and stakeholder collaboration. The PMI-ACP is therefore much less „rule-oriented” and much more focused on finding answers to how to navigate effectively in a rapidly changing, uncertain environment. The curriculum was expanded in 2024, so the current version of the certification now includes multiple scaling frameworks and modern expectations related to leadership.
