Earn your SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification

A Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and Agile Release Train (ART) coach who facilitates ART events and processes, supports teams in delivering value, and enables successful Program Increment (PI) planning and execution. ART-level events and Product Increment (PI) implementation.

RTEs help remove impediments, manage risks, and foster continuous improvement at the ART level. They often play a key role in Lean-Agile transformations, coaching leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters / Team Coaches to adopt new mindsets and ways of working.

In addition, RTEs support the adaptation of the SAFe® framework to organisational needs and contribute to the standardisation and documentation of effective practices across the enterprise.

Prerequisites, information

There are no formal prerequisites for this training; however, it is considered an advanced-level course, so completing at least one foundational SAFe® training is strongly recommended. Participants will benefit most from the programme if they are confident in the following areas:

  • Agile and Lean approaches
  • Scrum framework
  • SAFe Essential configuration
  • SAFe roles and responsibilities
  • Key steps of the design process within the SAFe® framework

If you do not yet have sufficient experience in these areas, we recommend completing an Agile entry-level training, Leading SAFe®, or SAFe® Scrum Master training before attending this course.

During the training, participants explore key SAFe® events and responsibilities through interactive simulations and experiential exercises. The theoretical content is complemented by group work and case discussions to support deeper understanding and practical application. The course prepares participants to take the SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification exam.

The training fee includes one exam attempt for the SAFe® RTE certification. The exam is conducted online, in English, and consists of multiple-choice questions.

What is included in the training?

  • Digital training materials
  • SAFe® virtual classroom access
  • SAFe® Collaborate - access to the collaboration platform
