The 6th edition of PMBoK has arrived
As previously reported, PMI felt the time was right to update the PMBoK. The 6th edition was released today (06.09.2017) and includes a number of changes relevant to the exam. The exam is expected to change in Q1 of 2018, exact date to be determined later. We have started to process the content, and from November we will also start exam prep trainings according to the new book.
Interesting is that the publication is also available in a 2-volume version, which, in addition to the PMBoK also includes an Agile Practice Guide. This volume covers nearly 100 pages on the following topics:
- Agile principles, basic knowledge
- Agile project lifecycles, hybrid models
- Creating an agile environment
- Most common agile project management techniques
- Organizational change and culture, agile projects and project offices
From a professional point of view, this edition, in particular thanks to the Agile Project Management volume, reinforces the approach we have so often advocated, namely in today's volatile and dynamic environment, there is a much greater need to manage projects according to hybrid methodologies. These methodologies include agile, iterative and, in some cases, traditional tools.
The volumes are free for PMI members to download, while the traditional version is available for non-members for USD 99 and for members for USD 50 from pmi.org .
