Should I prepare for the exam according to PMBOK 5 or PMBOK 6?

As you can see in our previous article, the PMI currently plans to publish a Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), which describes the syllabus for the PMP and CAPM exams and the processes and tools proposed by PMI, will be updated in September 2017. Practically, this also means that the content of the exam will change. According to our current information, PMI is planning to schedule this for the first quarter of 2018.

Which version should I use?

In our experience, it takes about 2-2.5 months to prepare for the exam besides working. Preparation requires at least a week of practice and study, and after completing the exam preparation programme, with around 1,500-2,000 test questions provided as part of the training, 90% of our participants pass the exam for the first time.

Candidates are advised to prepare according to the current version 5 of the PMBOK if they are able to prepare and take the exam this year. If it is realistic to do so in 2018, we recommend using PMBOK version 6 as a basis for preparation.

Our exam preparation programmes will be revised to the official syllabus immediately after the official release of the 6th edition of the PMBOK, so we plan to deliver the knowledge needed to pass the exam according to the new version from November-December.

I want to prepare according to the latest exam requirements!

What happens if I have prepared for PMBOK 5 but I cannot take the exam before the new exam is introduced?

No problem! If you have previously participated in our PMP/CAPM programme, our trainer will give you the necessary knowledge about the changes free of charge.

If you have not participated in our programme before, we will design an intensive 1-day programme at an affordable price, during which we will introduce you to the changes relevant for a successful exam.

All information about this programme will be published on our website.

Will the exam be harder in 2018?

It won't be harder, just different. The previous methodological directions will remain, the names of certain processes and fields of knowledge will change, and new tools and techniques will appear. Our colleagues will prepare you for the changes and help you prepare with tests similar to the ones you will face in the real exam.
