What is Disciplined Agile? What is the DASSM certification?

The Disciplined Agile (DA) toolkit helps individuals, teams and organisations to improve their effectiveness. DA can be used to develop a team's way of working (WoW) to suit the context, including a hybrid agile approach.

The DA toolkit has been included in the Project Management Institute's suite of certifications for 3 years, which is primarily aimed at achieving and maintaining business agility as follows:

• Rapid response and adaptation to market changes
• Flexible and fast response to customer needs
• Implementing change productively and cost-effectively without compromising quality
• Achieving a competitive advantage over competitors

The Disciplined Agile toolkit helps you make the best possible decision in a given situation to achieve business agility. DA is not a 'ready-made' framework to be followed, it also provides freedom of use and helps to define the collaboration and roles of business functions within organisations (e.g. Finance, Portfolio Management, IT Operations, Procurement and Supplier Management, etc.). The toolkit has the advantage of providing options on how to improve the functioning of organisations and departments, depending on the business and organisational environment and circumstances. The DA examines the functioning of organisations along the following lines, which also cover the main elements of the curricula of the related qualifications:

• Thinking - the DA toolkit builds on agile and lean thinking to address real problems in organisations
• People - provides models for DA roles, responsibilities, competences and organisational structures 
• Processes - the DA also addresses the multiple life cycle and workflow model
