IATF 16949:2016 - HOW TO BE/REMAIN AN AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIER?

The past years have shown that domestic automotive suppliers (Tier 1-2-3) are committed to a uniform automotive quality management system. The ISO/TS 16949 standard is a set of requirements for automotive suppliers, and compliance, certification and validation that an organisation's automotive products and services meet the requirements of the automotive industry. In October 2016, the IATF 16949:2016 normative requirements system was published, which after two years of transition, takes over the role of ISO/TS 16949 in its entirety. From the autumn of this year, automotive manufacturers and suppliers will only be able to obtain certification to this technical standard. The standard regulates the manufacturing and supporting processes. Based on their decades of experience in system development and auditing, the leading consultants and trainers of ProMan Consulting undertake either the construction of new systems or the further development of existing automotive supplier systems according to the requirements of the IATF 16949 standard. Our system development is process-centric, including regulatory tasks as required:

  • organisational development,
  • trainings,
  • the specification, development and implementation of supporting IT applications.

Automotive manufacturing and supplier companies are expected to start preparing for changes to their operations under the new IATF 16949 standard this year. The largest automotive organisations have set out their expectations to operate to this standard, which contains detailed requirements for all areas of operation.
