The PRINCE2 Practitioner prerequisite can be met by holding a valid certification of any of the following:
- either a valid CAPM certification,
- or a valid PMP certification,
- or a valid PRINCE2 Foundation certification,
- or a valid PRINCE2 Agile Foundation certification,
- or a valid PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner certification,
- or a valid IPMA Level A, B, C or D certification.
EXAM INFORMATION
The PRINCE2 Practitioner exam consists of 70 test questions and you have 150 minutes to complete it. You need 42 correct answers to pass. The test questions typically describe different scenarios, and answering them requires more than just theoretical knowledge.
The examination assesses the following competencies:
- You have detailed knowledge of all processes, topics and techniques, and are able to adapt them to the specific characteristics of a given project situation.
- You understand the relationships between the elements of PRINCE2 and can apply them.
- You understand the logic and reasoning behind processes, topics, and techniques.
The exam can be taken online using your own device and is open book, meaning that you can use aids such as the PRINCE2 textbook and official study materials during the exam.

However, in addition to English, the exam can be taken in 11 other world languages. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take the exam in Hungarian.
How long is the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?
You have 150 minutes (2.5 hours) to complete the exam.
Are there breaks during the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?
The exam time limit is constantly ticking away, and there are no breaks during the exam.
How many questions are there in the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?
There are 70 questions, which are multiple-choice tasks.
What result is required to pass the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?
At least 60% must be answered correctly, which means 42 correct answers out of 70 questions.
What does "open book" mean in the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?
This means that you may use the official PRINCE2 handbook during the examination.
It is important that only the official printed edition of the PRINCE2 Guide is used, without any notes.
The exam does not require you to recite or memorise the book, but rather to demonstrate your ability to interpret and apply the information contained therein. The book can be helpful, but given the 150-minute time limit, it is only useful if you know what you are looking for and where to find it.
How much does the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam cost?

How long is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification valid?
After passing the exam, your certification is valid for 3 years. The certification can be renewed.
How can I renew my PRINCE2 Practitioner certification?
You have two options:
- By retaking the exam,
- or by collecting Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points and maintaining PeopleCert membership.
If you are collecting CPD points: you must collect a total of 60 CPD points over the 3 years.
Is prior project management experience required for the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?
