What is the AI in project management training about?

Project leadership is about coordination and direction, but also about documentation, estimation, reporting and communication. Effective, market-ready project leadership now requires the application of AI. At the same time, there's a risk that AI gives a confident, well-formatted answer precisely where the project manager is personally accountable for the outcome: for example, in estimation, risk analysis, impact analysis and management reporting.

Where is the line where AI can provide genuine quality support, and what tasks should the project manager still handle themselves?

The aim of our AI training for the project manager role is to give you tested, hands-on experience with exactly this. Over the two days, you'll work through a realistic case study, from project initiation through scope and schedule planning, risk management, control and change management, all the way to closure. Every practical block runs on your own device, with your own AI account.

We will show you:

  • at which points in the project management process AI genuinely speeds things up,
  • where it can produce misleading results and how to handle this,
  • how a complex project task can be broken down among focused-role AI agents,
  • where a generalist approach works best and where a role-specific agent approach is preferable,
  • how agents can be chained, or even looped, while keeping the necessary human control in place,
  • and how all this fits into the organisation's PM/PMO governance framework, including data handling considerations.

Prerequisites, frameworks, target audience

The programme is an intensive, practical course, with over 80% of the time devoted to hands-on task work. 

We recommend our training primarily to professionals with at least 1 year of project management experience who lead plan-driven (traditional, hybrid) projects, who want to make their day-to-day work more efficient with AI tools, prepare for the role changes that follow AI adoption, and understand how the agentic approach can be applied within PM/PMO governance frameworks.

Prerequisites for participation:

  • Basic knowledge of project methodology or equivalent professional experience, as the programme does not re-teach methodological fundamentals but focuses on the practical application of AI;
  • your own registered account with one of the AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini), as you'll be working with it throughout the training. Participation is not possible in guest mode (without logging in). A free account is also sufficient, but bear in mind that the message limits of free plans may run out during two days of intensive use, so a paid plan is recommended;
  • your own laptop, on which the chosen AI tool is accessible via a browser.

The programme can also be delivered as an on-site (in-house) training, in which case we work through a sample project proposed by the client.

    • Exercise: compiling a status report and executive summary from mixed-quality data, EVM calculation

    • Exercise: simulating a change situation, impact analysis and alternatives across the scope, schedule, cost, resource, quality and risk dimensions
  • Supporting the closure process with AI
    • Exercise: preparing project closure documentation with AI assistance 
  • Training agents, chaining and looping them, system instructions as role definitions, checkpoints and automation prerequisites
    • Exercise: outlining your own project process and identifying AI use cases based on what you've learned
