Discounted pilot CAPM exam

Certified Associate in Project Management training

Following the anticipated changes to the PMP qualification, the date of the CAPM exam change has also been announced. As we wrote earlier the PMBoK 6th edition, published in September 2017, will also be used to modify the PMP and CAPM curricula. The deadline to take the PMP exam under the previous 5th edition is 26 March 2018, and the deadline to take the CAPM exam is 20 May 2018. After this, the PMBoK 6th edition exam will be introduced, but this is not the only new feature.

What are the other new features?

The PMI has launched a pilot exam for CAPM candidates from 12 March 2018, it is now possible to compete under PMBoK 6 at a much lower price than before.

The fee for the CAPM exam is USD 300, but this amount is USD 90 (!!!) for the exam dates between March 12 and 30, 2018 and USD 240 between March 31 and May 20, 2018. You can apply for the reduced price option from 16 December. Important information is that the results of the pilot exam will be communicated to all participants in the week of 28 May 2018.

There are obviously arguments for and against pilot testing. The clear argument against is that it is uncertain what type of questions will be included in the exam, and in what distribution of the new syllabus. Compared to the PMBOK 5-based exam, which is already well known from previous practice, there is much more uncertainty. However, the fact that PMBOK 6 is available and the changes are easy to understand is an advantage in addition to the very reasonable price. We have already worked through the syllabus and believe that the most important changes can be covered in 0.5-1 day.

If you take advantage of this discount, exam prep trainings starting in January 2018 are now being implemented under the new agenda.
