8 STEPS TO OBTAIN THE PMP CERTIFICATION

8 STEPS TO OBTAIN THE PMP CERTIFICATION

Our customers often ask us how to obtain the PMI-PMP certification in the most efficient way. Our experience has shown that there are 8 steps to obtaining certification, as follows:

Obtaining PMP certification
1. Verify appropriate experience

Before embarking on this not at all easy task, it is important to be aware of the prerequisites. about preconditions.

2. 35 hours of structured project management training

It is recommended to replace this with exam-oriented training, as a well-designed programme will not only provide the necessary theoretical knowledge, but also prepare you for potential pitfalls, PMI-specific issues, support you with sample tests and help you understand the practical application of processes and tools. It is important to choose a partner who has personal experience of the exam and practical project management.

3. Practice sample tests

Obtaining an exam routine is critical to your preparation. There are a number of options for obtaining test questions, either paid or free. It is my personal experience that even using free sources, there are about 2,000 quality test questions available, which, if properly processed, will save us a lot of headaches and, not least, post-tests. In our opinion, solving 2,000 sample exam questions - with a stable result of 70-80% at the end - greatly improves our chances and thus - with sufficient theoretical knowledge - makes a successful exam almost certain.

4. Upload your experience

If you already feel that you are starting to get good results in the sample exams, start applying. You can do this on the PMI website after a free registration, by entering your prerequisites and project experience. Once these have been confirmed, payment of the exam fee is required. For PMP certification, we always recommend to redeem an annual PMI membership, as the membership fee reduces the exam fee. There are a number of advantages to this membership, such as the possibility to download the current PMBOK in pdf format free of charge, or the free use of professional articles and publications.

5. Audit

It is possible that your application may be audited by PMI. As a rule, we record the prerequisites of the application by self-declaration. For an audit involving on average 1 out of 4 applicants, these must be confirmed in writing. We can do this by obtaining the signatures of the predefined persons who are able to certify the projects and by mailing the documents proving our education and qualifications. The audit will end when PMI has received the required documents and will send feedback on their adequacy, which may take several weeks.

6. Verification code

Once the application has been approved, PMI will send us a unique identification code which allows us to select an exam date. It is important to note that you can take the exam up to 1 calendar year after receiving the code! After that date, all information, prerequisites and applications will expire!

7. Booking an examination date

You can choose an examination date on the Prometric (Person VUE for CAPM) site using the confirmation code. It is usually advisable to finalise the date 2 weeks before the scheduled exam. You can take the exam several times a week.

8. Passing the exam

After the steps above, all you have to do is pass the exam. In our experience, 1.5 to 2 months after completion of the exam preparation programme, even with active work, is sufficient to prepare successfully. If you choose our programme, our experts are available until the exam is passed and can even provide individual consultations to help you through the process.
